Ron White brings a large variety of skill sets to his consulting. This comes from his decades of experience as a consultant and trainer, his years as management staff within several foundations and as a result of three decades of program work with innovative social change strategies in low-income communities.
Since beginning Building Utopia, Ron has exercised his expertise in management and executive coaching, foundation operations and strategic grantmaking, resource development, and community building strategies.
He is amongst the few consultants in the country with national experience in developing and nurturing philanthropic collaboratives and improving their cross-learning. This expertise has allowed him to successfully turn around failing affinity groups, faltering foundations, and gives him the skills to guide the growth of the newly emerging Gulf Coast Funders for Equity.
Being well read in "alternative" or minority histories, Ron brings a deep understanding of local community and their diverse histories of struggle for equality. He has worked within Native American, Asian (East and South Eastern), Latino (mostly Mexican and Central American) and African American communities (rural and urban) supporting multiple strategies for progressive social change.
Ron White brings strong written and verbal communications skills to his work and is a highly experienced facilitator of group dynamics and collective decision making processes.
With wide ranging interests in the natural sciences and the humanities, currently Mr. White is engaged in developing models for benchmarking the growth and development of large-scale community organizing efforts. His work is based on current research on social network theory and the latest research on "self-organizing emergent systems".
